ACES (Active Children Eating Smart)
What is ACES?
(Active Children Eating Smart)

  • A FREE 8 week healthy weight programme after school
  • For families with children and young people aged between 5-15 years
  • Fun interactive sessions to learn more about healthy eating                   
  • Physical activity sessions including - Games, swimming and lots more!
  • Practical cookery sessions                                                 
  • An opportunity to make and maintain lifestyle changes with support from your ACES coaches

The Initial 1:1 appointment:

  • Quick introduction to ACES with your coach
  • The coach will tell you all about the programme and they will answer any questions you may have
  • A few questionnaires are completed by the parent/carer & child
  • The coach records height and weight
  • Now you are ready for WEEK 1!

The Programme:

  • Sessions focus on fun, interactive nutritional information including food labelling, Eatwell plate & the food “Traffic Light System”
  • Parents/carers are encouraged to take part in the physical activity alongside their children for encouragement, support & laughter
  • During the 8 weeks there will be 3 x 90 minute practical food sessions led by a food coach
  • Food sessions will help you prepare quick, easy & healthy breakfasts, snacks & main meals with a “hands on” style of delivery
  • After the 8th week, a final 1:1 assessment is carried out to monitor and discuss progress
